Private Feldenkrais sessions
for chronic conditions and neurological disorders

When you’re living with a chronic condition or neurological disorder, a deep longing for your “past normal” is very real. It’s understandable to feel like you’ve lost a big part of what makes you you.

Or maybe your condition has kept you from ever having had a sense of “your normal.” You can’t rely on consistency or, sometimes, even predictability.

That’s a lot to carry day after day, season after season, year after year.

So it’s natural to want hope and possibility. To want to be able to lean on someone who has the understanding and skill to guide you into a tender “new normal.”

For your body. For your mind. For your life.

I can help.

I’m Yuka Iwamoto

I am a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and a Vibrational Sound Therapy Certified Practitioner

In the nearly 20 years that I’ve worked in orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation and movement-based practices, I’ve witnessed the therapeutic benefits of mind-body practices rooted in neuroplasticity, like Feldenkrais.

I’ve seen firsthand how Feldenkrais has helped people with chronic conditions and neurological disorders in deeply comforting — and sometimes surprising — ways.

Peaceful, restorative sleep replaced restless, pain-filled nights. Muscle tension was released as people learned to change their habitual patterns of gripping the steering wheel, hunching over a computer, clenching their teeth or holding their breath. Those with unexplained symptoms, such as twitching eyes and tingling or numb arms, legs, hands and feet (often the aftereffects of car accidents or sports injuries), found their discomfort alleviated.

Twinkling eyes and smile lines replaced a Parkinson's mask, transforming nonverbal and verbal communication. Humor and sociability returned, anxiety was diminished, confidence and a sense of safety were revived. Rigid muscles became more flexible. A painful or shuffling gait was restored to a more typical walking pattern. Control and coordination improved, and daily tasks required less effort.

And that’s why I’ve chosen to specialize: to help people with chronic conditions and neurological disorders. People who want guidance to use neuroplasticity, through Feldenkrais, to find a way into renewed hope, confidence, ease and grace.

My Offerings

Private Feldenkrais sessions in-person and online
for people living with chronic conditions or neurological disorders

Feldenkrais sessions are an invitation into gentleness, stability, awareness and change. All through slow, guided movements that draw on your body-mind’s natural capacity to notice, adapt and improve.

It’s an invitation to create your own “new normal” — to create a new relationship with the way you move, how you think and how you feel.

I believe you are so much more than any condition you are struggling with. And I believe our work together can bring stability, dignity and comfort to your body, mind and life.

I promise to guide you with tenderness, compassion and presence.

Feeling safe, moving with minimal pain
“I can now help my body feel safe and comfortable by changing my body’s position through conscious movement and breathe through my movements with minimal pain. Thank you, Yuka, for allowing me to feel alive and connected to my body again.”

— Adela Mejia, hairstylist & mom
    Edmonds, Washington

From Parkinson’s mask to a natural smile
“During his third Feldenkrais session with Yuka, my husband, who lives with Parkinson’s, experienced something unexpected and remarkable. He arrived with a frozen, expressionless Parkinson’s ‘mask.’ He left with a natural smile on his face. Now he is more communicative, and his sense of humor has returned. Each session brings new hope for both of us.”

— Denise, Washington

“Movement is life. Life is a process.
Improve the quality of the process and you improve the quality of life itself.”

— Moshe Feldenkrais
